The Celts win a heartwrenching game, 97-92 over the Cavs to win the series.
The started off with Pierce taking some good shots and making them! Both teams played good defense and kept the game pretty close. KG got a bunch of rebounds early so that was a good sign. The Celts slowly built up a small lead.
The refs continued to make no calls on fouls made on Paul. Lebron continued to do his thing though he was well defended by Paul.
The Cavs would make a run of their own and cut the lead but the Celts still held a five point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Celts got some turnovers and took advantage of them. And rebuilt their lead. It was good to see the bench show some signs of life too. Eddie House certainly helped. Seeing him dive on the floor for the ball was a great jolt for the team. Posey also had a productive start. The Celts were energized.
It was interesting to note that Ray didn't play a big chunk of the quarter. House took his spot. Rajon was also not a real factor.
KG continued to get rebounds but he didn't take too many shots. He had an open look and didn't take it. Instead he passed if to Pierce. KG really needed to take more shots. Pierce took a hard foul towards the end of the quarter but continued to play. The Celts took a 50-40 lead.
The Celts started off cold in the third and made the game far too close. The Celts just looked a bit out of it for some reason. The Cavs closed within three. The game would remain close.
Peirce continued to have the hot hand. Lebron would respond. It was a close shootout by both guys.
Ray Allen still couldn't get a three. Not sure why he kept shooting them.
The fourth quarter saw the Celts with a six point lead. Far too close.... Rondo did start making a difference. I liked seeing Eddie House in there with the starters.
Can the Celts get any calls? Geeez. It continued a bad trend.
The game just went back and forth. Lebron went nuts. Bad foul calls continued but the Celts still hung on to a small lead.
The Celts defense got sloppy in the final minutes though. They left too many easy baskets and too many foul calls.
PJ Brown had a big game though. He was huge down the stretch. Ray Allen's two foul shots pretty much sealed the game. The game just made things a bit easier.
One thing I did notice was that KG didn't make any of his shots down the stretch. Not necessarily a good sign. He deferred to Paul all game. Paul thankfully made both free throws in the last seconds of the game.
Lebron had 46pts and Paul had 40pts. What a game....
Bring on the Pistons!
