The Celts lose a tough one 87-81.

The game started off as one would expect. The Lakers were agressive and went to the basket as much as possible. They took an early lead. The Celts would have to weather the early drive. The Celts certainly got more fouls as one expected. Too many early turnovers too.

As one expected, Kobe would be the one who would be leading the charge for the Lakers.

Rondo had the hot hand but that wasn't a good sign. The Celts had to get the other guys start scoring.

The Celts still hung in there and kept the game close. The Lakers shot 28% from the floor in the first quarter. Tied up at 20 in the first quarter.

It was interesting to see Odum and Radmonovich got three fouls each and were ineffective. KG and Paul were ineffective too. Bad nights to start all around....Sasha V was going insane scoring off the bench.

The game stayed far too close. Doc went with the bench for the start of the second quarter. Interesting. Kobe remained in the game. Only Ray stayed in the game. Too much Sam Cassell again....Leon Powe wasn't as spectacular in LA as one would expect.

The Celts still seemed to be having problems getting their offense going. The Laker defense was very good. They definitely were in the more desperate state.  KG had problems shooting. The refs certainly didn't help the Celts out. It was to be expected though. It just felt like it was not the Celts night and they knew it. Still the Celts hung in there the best they could fighting a huge wave against them. The Celts were behind 43-37 at half-time.

The second half continued the tough play of the Lakers. The Celts clawed and grinded their way back and took a small lead. It was rather amazing since the game had been rather lopsided.

Ray Allen showed up to play and scored 25pts. Rondo did leave the game with an ankle sprain. Hopefully he can come back and play Thursday.

Paul and KG continued to suck from the field. They just had an off night...I hope.... Still they made the game interesting in the closing minutes. The Celts spent most of the game trying to catch up but just ran out of luck. Sasha continued his hot streak for the game and was ultimately the difference in the game.

I do like the Celts chances for Thursday. Paul Pierce and KG shouldn't have another off night. It's going to be a longer series than all of us thought.
