The Celts won 97-91. It was a tale of two games. I'm just glad the Celts came out on top.
The game started off very bad for the Celts. No one seemed to make any shots and the Lakers were making all theirs. It was ugly. No doubt about it. The pace and calls just didn't seem to be going the Celts way. They just had to weather the storm.
Odom seemed to find new life with his scoring.
Rondo was pretty ineffective so he ended up sitting out most of the game.
What happened to the Celts defense. The guys just seemed so out of it. They weren't pressing and the none of their shots were going in while the Lakers continued to score at will. It was just a totally frustrating first quarter. No one from the starters or the bench seemed to get anything going.
The bloodshed continued into the second quarter. Uggh. The Celts did make a little run to cut into the huge 24+pt lead to 12pts. They showed some life. I supposed after the craptastic first half like this one, this was the best the Celts could hope for to finish off the first half.
Sadly the Celts let the lead back up to 18 in the half and were down 58-40 at half-time.
The third quarter was all about the Celts. Amazing. The Lakers defense disappeared. The Celts shots finally falling too. The Celts bench helped bring the Celts back from the dead. It was total dominance. Eddie House and James Posey made a ton of threes. As the game got closer, the Big Three finally showed up. KG and Paul got some big shots.
Perk left the game with a shoulder strain.
Paul did fall down in pain at one point but got back up and seemed alright. The Celts outscored the Lakers 31-15 in the third quarter. They brought back their stout defense and closed down the Lakers.
Odom was a no shot in the second half. Kobe did his best to score but it wasn't enough. Paul guarded him and that was the big differences
Ray Ray's shot grabbed the lead in the fourth. And it was all over. He had a huge game and played the entire game with 19pt.
The Celts managed to over come the greatest deficit ever in a Finals. I'm so proud of the guys for hanging in there. I have to admit I thought it was over at half-time. Anyone who thought otherwise was lying to themselves. It wasn't a pretty game but it was a win. The Celts are one more win away from winning the Championship. Amazing.
