The Celts win a rather easily over the Cavs, 89-73 and go up two games.
The game started off pretty slow for the Celts. The guys missed some shots and had bad passes, turning over the ball. It was a bit sloppy. The Celts did fight back though.
The Celts just weren't shooting very well. They were settling for jump shots again and not driving to the basket. The Cavs defense was good and getting rebounds. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was hitting all his shots. He was the only Cavs player to get anything going. It was just plain ugly for a little while in the second quarter but you knew the Celts had a scoring run in them.
It was great to seet the bench brought the guys back. PJ, Posey, Leon, and Sam helped dig the Celts out of the hole. It was huge! Sam Cassell was a game changer. The Celts defense definitely stepped up with the bench playing.
Foul shooting continued to be a problem. The Celts were getting the calls but weren't capitalizing. Fortunately they would improve a little as the game progressed.
The Celts still managed to take a small lead and built on it. It was great to see the guys fighting and showing some spirit finally towards the end of the half. They came to life. The Celts bench scored 26-3 versus the Cavs bench! The score was 44-36 at the half.
With the start of the third quarter, Ray finally got a bucket! And continued to score. The Celts got off to a good start and built on their lead. Perk got in some foul trouble though Leon Powe did a better job taking his spot.
The Cavs did make a small run and chipped away at the lead but the Celts put a stop to it. Also the Cavs got cold again too.
Lebron continued his poor shooting. Amazing to see.
Ray Allen finally snapped out of his funk in the third quarter with 11pts. Lebron was still pretty cold with 13pts, KG had a pretty quiet night scoring but still had a double double.
The game just progressed from there. The Celts built up their lead and the Cavs continued to get bad shots. The Celts went with a small team for several minutes. Doc probably wanted to run and tire out the Cavs big men.
The fourth quarter was garbage time with the Celts having about a 20pt lead. This game was a solid win by the Celts....
Glad to see the Celts with a rather easy win though the start was tough. The bench really picked things up and gave the starters a boost. Now can they do anything on the road. Will this stout defense show up Saturday? Will Lebron be this cold too? We shall see. I would expect the Cavs to play 100% better and be on fire from the start. The Celts will have to ride it out like tonight's game and chip away.....
