The Celts lose a tough one, 108-84. sigh
The game started off as one would expect. The Celts fell behind early and had to wait out the Cavs home start. The Cavs looked energized and much more in tune than they were in Boston. This was expected. It was ugly for the Celts. They couldn't get much of an offense started and they turned the ball over. The Cavs went up by as much as 26pts.
The Cavs players like Wally, D-West , Joe Smith etc. got hot
In the second quarter, the flop by Lebron caused by the flagrant foul by Posey was a joke. Lebron is such a good actor. Uggh.
The game just went on from there. The Cav defense was really good and tough. And the Celts just weren't executing scores. They missed far too many shots.
The good thing was that when Lebron left the game to rest, the Celts were able to chip away on the lead and get some calls their way. Lebron did return but the Celts continued to chip away. It wasn't by coincidence that the Celts defense also stepped up too and got some turnovers.
The Celts were down 52-35 at half time.
The third quarter continued the first half. It was not pretty to watch. The Celts fell back behind over twenty points again. It was as if the guys were not into the game. Where was the stout defense from the first two games. Urrrh. It just was a bad repeat of the Hawks series except this time around, the Cavs can really play on the road.
The Celts made a small run but it still wasn't enough. Why weren't the Celts going to KG more often???? The game wasn't frustrating to watch. It was just plain infuriating at times. The Celts can play much better than this.... It doesn't help that everyone except Lebron is getting their shots in the game unlike in Boston. Uggh.
I suppose the good news is that Lebron was still pretty cold from the field. The bad news was that his teammates were making their shots. Urrrh. And that made all the difference in the game. The Celts just didn't have an answer. None of the players like KG ,Paul or Ray were really there.
Definitely a letdown game but not really a surprise. It follows the pattern the Celts had set. And sadly continue. Hopefully the Celts can win on Monday and not woken up the Cavs. But I think its too late for it. Its a series now. And it will be a long one.
